More website improvements

We've improved a few more things on the website to make it easier for you to handle your scooter parts orders while wearing an adult diaper in the privacy of your own basement:

We updated the “What model?” page to cover everything so that you can more easily figure out what fits what. Now includes 10 different Vespa categories! Lambrettas seem almost Cartesian in comparison.
We've tweaked your Account/Order history page so you can do most anything you need there now. For example, we've included a way to change items if you ordered the wrong part type. You can also request an order update there in case the shipping staff fell asleep. (Your request actually rings a bell in our office attached to a long string.) And other “stuff”.
We tweaked the Help page to cover these things a little better too.

Basically, if you have to get up and put some clothes on, or email to change something, we haven't set something up correctly.

Hope it helps. Let us know if any problems.

Two boxes of scooter parts: an American tale

Two boxes of scooter parts for two American customers were mixed up, either by us or the courier, and had to be redirected. A big thanks to one customer who helped forward one box then kindly emailed back:

Very nice of you. Thanks again. It seems many Americans do agree. Last year the US was number 5 on countries we ship to, far down in total, while last month the US was number 2 and not far out of 1st place!

Scooterists in the US - mostly Vespa but some Lambretta too - have sussed out the truth for themselves either direct from us or through smart shops there and increasingly avoid badly overpriced Italian items that are in reality mostly mediocre quality at best or just repackaged Indian/Vietnam items with a huge markup. Of course many Italian-made items are quite good, but so many others don't even compare on quality, let alone price. Just one obvious example of many...

Best scooter cop ever

As someone recounted:

So two weeks ago, I'm riding my ’74 Rally 200 on the outskirts of my small Kansas town, doing near WOT in a 45mph county road. I get pulled over and my heart sinks.

So, county sheriff comes walking up and says, in classic cop form, “do you know how fast you were going sir?”

I say, “well, uh, the speedo on this thing is really innacurate and uh...”

He interrupts me with, “60! (pause) That's Incredible!”

So then he's just all stoked about the bike, asking me how old and what displacement etc, at no point does he look at my license or registration.

So then I say, “sir I don't want to push my luck here, but I'm dying to know my top speed, so uh, what would you think about clocking me?”

He goes “totally, let's do it.”

So, I go a half mile back up the road, turn around and go WOT in 4th, I fly by him, he's outside of the car with the radar pointed at me, and he even whips his fist around in the air as I fly by him.

I come back, he says “66!” and we high five. Then I showed him how to read a spark plug and we go our separate ways.

Best cop ever.

Vietnam signs of the times

Following on our scooter rider photos the other week, here are a couple recent photos we took of local signs.

The first one was outside a new Japanese-style hostess bar downtown. Hmmm, interesting proposal. The second was posted in a restaurant washroom.

(And as yours kindly understand, a sign in Vietnamese written by Westerner would be pretty funny too.)
